"Since 1982 glass has had a constant presence in my life. Our relationship has been enhanced and explored with some of the world’s glass masters, but predominantly my knowledge of this magic material is built on day-to-day experience and practice in my studio. This path has led me to a fairly simple artistic approach; trust the glass, have fun, accept mistakes, study nature and search for the beautiful forms and colors inherent in the personality of the glass.
I’m interested in creating new techniques to combine with traditional techniques in an effort to create pieces that capture the nature of glass and the beauty of nature.
My work focuses on the creative glassblowing process. Hopefully, a finished piece captures not only beautiful color and form but also some of the magic of glassblowing. I’m not trying to create new forms and colors as much as I am trying to discover them.
Mastering the material is understanding it; not controlling it. My job as an artist is to teach and help people see and love beauty. Not the beauty of my glass but the beauty of our world."
