"I find great solace in looking at patterns in nature: leaves, shells, flowers, the ridges of canyon walls, ripples on water, dunes and snow. Nature distills the complex mechanisms of life into simple visual forms. I am moved by this simplicity.
I see movement as the life force of design. Wind creates patterns on water and sand. Sunlight dances with shadows on leaves. Swirls, curves and texture animate shells, flowers and the bark of trees. Animal hides ripple as they run. Similarly, I want every design to be infused with movement through texture, color, pattern, and light. This is why I’ve chosen the tag line Designs that Dance.
To achieve simplicity and movement, I explore silver’s versatility using etching, hammering, oxidization, sculpting and chasing. These bring forth silver’s many faces, from liquid smooth to shiny, bright, dark, fine, rough or chunky. I sometimes use pearls, shell, seeds, leather and wood. I only use stones occasionally, and never for ‘bling.’"
