"I was born into an artistic family in China where my parents and grandfather excelled at calligraphy. After studying traditional Chinese painting in China and Japan, I moved to a hill town in western Massachusetts with my husband and daughter, and have been teaching and exhibiting for the last 15 years. I have work in galleries in Massachusetts and New Hampshire and have taught at Smith College Art Museum.
My painting flows along with my life, and "new expression" is the call at present. And as always, the joy of balancing on minimal ground thrills me.
My painting has also evolved from my Chinese origins and life in Western Massachusetts . I inherited the ancient path of Chinese art traditions which reaches back in time to vistas of misty mountains and glimpses of rain-soaked lotuses, sentient stones and pensive bamboo, but my life in New England has also given me a second nature of maple-lined roads, lichened stone walls and open fields with an occasional weathered barn. The media are mineral color, rice paper or canvas."
