Collection: Annie Collins
Born and raised in Minneapolis, Annie Collins has been sewing and knitting since she was a young girl making clothes for her dolls. She lived for many years in Cincinnati and has spent the past 20 years in the Pioneer Valley.
After discovering contra dancing in Cincinnati in 1995, Annie started collecting secondhand clothing to sell to other dancers. Inspired by her love of the colors and textures of fabric, she began making her own line of skirts and dresses, selling them at contra dances throughout the Midwest, and then in New England. Later she began making double sided scarves to "use up her scraps". In addition to using new fabrics, she incorporates upcycled fabrics into her work, in order to reduce cost and textile waste. She uses a variety of fabrics in her work, including rayon, silk, cotton, linen, and polyester.
Annie also enjoys singing, birding, gardening and being outdoors.
