Collection: Rebecca Clark
Rebecca Clark, pastel Deerfield, MA
"Because I live on a farm in the foothills of the Berkshires of Massachusetts, I draw my inspiration for my soft pastel drawings from the colors, shapes, lines and textures of various elements found in the organic shapes of nature. I work in my studio from memory, sketches, and photographs, guided by an intuitive process to create a heightened interpretation of the observed and imaginary world around us. My love of drawing led me to explore pastel since mark-making and color meet in this medium. Because pastel is close to pure pigment, I am able to generate beautifully vibrant colors. I can create subtle gradations of hue, tone and overlay, which can be obtained while not losing the expressive qualities of line."
