Robert Steinem's artwork has been a process of discovery. Drawing since early childhood, he began painting as a teenager. However, after a service connected injury in the Marines, Steinem quit painting for twenty years... yet the thought of painting kept nagging at him.

 Instead of being limited by his legal blindness, he found a way to work through those limitations. 

Robert Steinem's oil paintings balance a relaxed realism with a captivating sense of form and light. His artistic interpretations aren't merely literal translations, but serve as explorations of the subject matter, inviting the viewer to examine these subjects in a new way.
